Founded in 1935 in Berkeley, CA, Young People's Symphony Orchestra (YPSO) is the oldest independent youth orchestra in California, and the second oldest in the nation. For 75 years - and counting - YPSO has developed the musical talents and skills of students in the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, many YPSO alumni are internationally distinguished musicians and prominent community members.

Founded in 1964 as the educational arm of The Oakland Symphony, is recognized as an important musical organization in Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area. OYO students have won scholarships to study in Europe and entered prestigious colleges.

YPCO is excited to announce the founding of the Senior Chamber Symphony, our new orchestra for high school-aged musicians. The Senior Chamber Symphony will provide older student musicians a chamber symphony experience, with expert leadership in an intimate and comfortable atmosphere.

The San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra (SFSYO), now in its 23rd season, is recognized throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia as one of the finest youth orchestras in the world.
